Ein Besuch der Stadt lohnt vor allem der pompösen Kathedrale wegen. Der neugotische Bau aus dem 19. Jahrhundert spaltet die Gemüter. Für einige gehört das protestantische Gotteshaus zu den prachtvollsten Kirchenbauten Irlands, andere kritisieren den übertriebenen Prunk. Statuen, bunte Glasfenster und Mosaikfußboden – nichts war dem Architekten William Buges zu teuer.
A visit to the city is especially worth it, because of the ostentatious cathedral. The neo-Gothic building from the 19th century is disputed. For some, the Protestant church is one of the most magnificent churches in Ireland, others criticize the exaggerated pomp. Statues, stained glass windows and mosaic floor - nothing was too expensive for the architect William Buges.
