After the release of the church from its purpose in 1972 and its renovation in 1999, the Church of the Holy Cross became the 'Museum Church of the Holy Cross', in which the Zittau's Big Lenten Altar Cloth from 1472 is exhibited. This only lenten veil preserved in Germany shows on a total of 90 fields in 10 rows biblical scenes from the Old and New Testaments, from Creation to the Last Judgement, here the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple.
Nach der Entwidmung der Kirche 1972 und ihrer Sanierung im Jahre 1999 wurde die Kreuzkirche zum 'Museum Kirche zum Hl. Kreuz', in dem das Große Zittauer Fastentuch von 1472 ausgestellt wird. Dieses einzige in Deutschland erhaltene Fastentuch zeigt auf insgesamt 90 Feldern in 10 Reihen biblische Szenen aus dem Alten und Neuen Testament von der Schöpfung bis zum Jüngsten Gericht, hier die Darbringung Christi im Tempel.
