Collioure Collioure, France is a community on the mediteranneum, south of Perpignan and very close to the Spanish border.

Because of it strategic importance it was already fortified as "Castrum Caucoliberi" around 670. Catalonians and French were fighting over and over again to make Collioure their town.

It was conquered by French troups in 1642, and officially surrendered to France in the Treaty of the Pyrenes in 1659, but was again taken temporarily by the Catalonians about 100 yeas later.

Not surprising, the town has a strong Catalan culture.
