Katherine Gorge Katherine Gorge, Katherine, Edith Falls , a deep gorge carved through sandstone by the Katherine River, is one of the main attractions of Nitmiluk National Park.

Katherine Gorge is made up of thirteen gorges, with rapids and falls.

It follows the Katherine River, which begins in Kakadu.

During the dry season (May until October, with warm, dry sunny days and cool nights) Katherine Gorge waters are placid in most spots and good for swimming and canoeing.

There may be freshwater crocodiles in most parts of the river, as they nest along the banks, but they are harmless to humans.
