Unfortunately, this is often not the case, since the smog situation can be quite bad.

But even the highest mountain of Iran Damavand (almost 6000 m, see DamavandDer höchste Berg IransKarl Gratzl et al.Weishaupt VerlagGnas2001) is sometimes visible in all its glory, as shown by the next two pictures.
