The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels , also known as COLA or the Los Angeles Cathedral, is a Latin Church Cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church in Los Angeles. The cathedral opened in 2002 and replaced the Cathedral of Saint Vibiana. The Cathedral was constructed in postmodern architecture which led controversy over its deconstructive and modernist design, as well as its high cost ($189.7 million). The cathedral also features a mausoleum in its lower levels.
